Drones, California Wildfires and The National Guard
There has been a lot of negative drone press in the news lately, so positive news is always welcomed. Californians are all too familiar with fire season but this year has been overwhelmingly difficult across the state. Fortunately, a team from the California Air National Guard’s 195th Airlift Wing has been able to provide some much needed aid to CAL FIRE, who is battling the Carr Fire in Northern California. The remotely piloted aircraft is capable of providing timely intelligence with reconnaissance and surveillance missions. This information is then transcribed onto maps and used to track the fire’s movement, allow authorities to more easily position defenses and notify the public of evacuations.
